A Seminar on the topic of citizen journalism held in Jinnah University for women, in which the anchor and produce of the program “citizen journalism” Mr. Owais Mangalwala delivered a healthy lecture on citizen journalism.
Seminar was for only the students of mass communication, and all the students were keenly focusing on the lecture.
Mr. Mangalwala said citizen journalism is the sharing of opinion through blogs, sharing of new discovering, sharing of expertise. Many people are against citizen journalism and many people think that it is the democracy power to people.
He said there are some special things to keep in mind regarding citizen journalism.
· Everything should be real- as it is.
· Events are all around us waiting to be reported look around and notice things. · Come to the point of view, express in your own terms.
· Don’t ever think that your report is boring.
· Every day is not a big day.
· Be descriptive but do not exaggerate.
· Accuracy is the key. Be dead accurate.
· Apply code of conduct. Make rules for yourself.
· Avoid plagiarism.
· Keep your eyes open, everything can be reported.
· Meet the professional journalists and get feedback.
